Disadvantages of the GM 10L1000 gearbox
- The torque converter locks up in first gear, and its clutch has a short lifespan;
- The torque converter’s weak points also include its short-lived stator;
- During vigorous driving, wear debris from the torque converter clutch quickly clogs the valve body;
- This dirt also significantly reduces the lifespan of the oil pump, so change the lubricant more frequently;
- The original stamped oil pan often warps from overheating and leaks.
