Gearbox GM 10L1000

The GM-Allison 10L1000 10-speed automatic transmission has been produced since 2019 and is installed in rear-wheel drive pickup trucks under the MGM name, in all-wheel drive pickups under the MGU name. This transmission is also installed in the Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra with the 6.6-liter Duramax V8 diesel engine.

Disadvantages of the GM 10L1000 gearbox

  • The torque converter locks up in first gear, and its clutch has a short lifespan;
  • The torque converter’s weak points also include its short-lived stator;
  • During vigorous driving, wear debris from the torque converter clutch quickly clogs the valve body;
  • This dirt also significantly reduces the lifespan of the oil pump, so change the lubricant more frequently;
  • The original stamped oil pan often warps from overheating and leaks.
