Disadvantages of the GM 4T40 gearbox
- This is a very reliable and durable automatic transmission with a service life of over 300,000 km;
- However, it is extremely important to monitor for oil leaks, which occur regularly;
- Also, many failures are caused by damaged wiring or electrical connectors;
- All other problems are caused by contamination of the solenoids by wear products;
- When combined with V6 engines, the torque converter lockup clutch wears out very quickly.
