Disadvantages of the GM 4L65 gearbox
- This automatic transmission is installed in large, powerful vehicles, and the torque converter clutch wears out quickly;
- Then wear debris clogs the solenoids, and the oil pressure in the system drops;
- The drop in pressure reduces the life of the clutches, and the 3-4 gear pack is the first to burn out;
- At high mileage, the reverse gear drum and brake band are often replaced;
- Also, the petal-type oil pump does not like long-term driving at high speeds.
