Disadvantages of the GM 6T50 gearbox
- The most well-known weak point of the automatic transmission is the spring disc of the 3-5-R drum;
- If it fails, not only the drum is damaged, but fragments of the disc fly throughout the transmission;
- Replacing it with a reinforced original does not help, and there are non-original solutions;
- Cases of differential bolts coming loose have also been described on specialized forums;
- All remaining problems are related to overheating or solenoids failing.
