Disadvantages of the GM 6T45 gearbox
- The most common failure of this transmission is a cracked spring disc in the 3-5-R drum;
- Then its retainer usually breaks, scattering debris throughout the oil system;
- Installing a reinforced original won’t help here, but there are non-original solutions;
- In early versions of the transmission, there were cases of differential bolts loosening;
- Other problems here are related to overheating or solenoids failing.
