The General Motors 4L70E (or M70) 4-speed automatic transmission was produced from 2005 to 2013 and was installed in rear-wheel drive/all-wheel drive models with powerful 5.3- and 6.0-liter V8 engines. This automatic transmission is familiar from the GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Trailblazer SS, and Saab 9-7X Aero.

Disadvantages of the GM 4L70 gearbox
- This transmission is installed with powerful V8 engines, and the torque converter clutch wears out quickly;
- This dirt then clogs the solenoids, and the lubrication pressure in the system gradually drops;
- Then, the clutches in the 3-4 gear pack usually begin to slip and burn;
- At high mileage, the brake band and reverse drum are often replaced;
- Weak points of the transmission include the rubber-coated pistons and the petal-type oil pump.
