Disadvantages of the Mazda EW6A-EL gearbox

  • This transmission was developed in collaboration with Aisin and is highly reliable;
  • With moderate driving and frequent lubricant changes, it can easily last up to 250,000 km;
  • At 200,000 km, we recommend checking the heat exchanger and replacing it if it is clogged;
  • However, rapid acceleration and slippage can quickly wear out the torque converter clutch;
  • Then wear debris clogs the valve body solenoids, and the automatic transmission begins to struggle.
