Disadvantages of the ZF 8HP60 gearbox
- This automatic transmission hasn’t been around long enough for detailed breakdown statistics to be collected;
- At first, there were many complaints about jolts and jerks, but then firmware updates fixed everything;
- Some owners had to completely change the oil to get rid of the jolts;
- Specialist forums describe a couple of cases where the wiring harness needed to be replaced under warranty;
- Due to the combination with powerful engines, the torque converter lockup clutch wears out quickly.
