Disadvantages of the Aisin TG-81SD gearbox
- This is a reliable hydromechanical automatic transmission, but it is very sensitive to oil purity.
- The gearbox hydraulic unit quickly becomes clogged with wear products from the torque converter lock-up clutch.
- The remaining problems with the automatic transmission are related to overheating, the heat exchanger is clearly too small here.
- Plastic and Teflon parts of the transmission quickly wear out from high temperatures.
- Then the lubrication pressure in the system decreases and the clutches in the packs begin to burn.
