The Chrysler 48RE 4-speed automatic transmission was assembled by the company from 2002 to 2007 and installed in the Dodge Ram pickup truck with an 8.3-liter Viper V10 and a 5.9-liter Cummins ISB diesel engine. This automatic transmission is used in tuning projects for high-performance vehicles with 1,000-horsepower engines.

Using
The transmission was installed on:
- Dodge Ram 3 (DT) in 2002 – 2007.
Disadvantages of the Chrysler 48RE gearbox
- This is a reliable transmission, but its service life is highly dependent on operating conditions;
- In overly active owners, the torque converter clutch burns out by 100,000 km;
- The solenoids become clogged with dirt, which then causes the oil pressure to drop and the clutches to burn out;
- Closer to 200,000 km, the brake band and reverse drum are usually replaced;
- A common cause of automatic transmission failure is the centrifugal regulator, as well as the wiring.
