Disadvantages of the GM 6L90 gearbox
- Most of the problems with this transmission are related to the torque converter in one way or another;
- Not only does it have a weak hub, but the locking clutches also wear out quickly;
- This dirt then clogs the solenoids, reducing the oil pressure in the system;
- Following this chain, the clutches begin to burn out, and even their drums burst;
- Also, the petal-type oil pump does not tolerate long-term driving at high speeds;
- Do not allow the transmission to overheat, otherwise the control unit will simply burn out;
- A common problem with early transmissions was the leaking of the pump cover O-rings.
