The 8-speed Mazda PM8AX-EC automatic transmission has been produced at the Japanese company’s factories since 2022 and is installed in hybrid versions of the popular CX-60, CX-70, and CX-90 crossovers. This automatic transmission features a multi-plate clutch and an electric motor in place of the torque converter.

Disadvantages of the Mazda PM8AX-EC gearbox
- This automatic transmission has been plagued by numerous problems since its launch;
- A recall was even initiated due to loss of power after a sudden stop;
- There are also complaints about vibrations in a certain RPM range;
- Dealers replace the driveshaft under warranty, but this doesn’t help everyone; the problem is the transmission;
- Also, inappropriate shifting at low speeds is often noted on specialized forums.
