Disadvantages of the ZF 8HP100 gearbox
- This transmission is new, and detailed breakdown statistics haven’t yet been compiled;
- The first owners often complained of jolts and jerks, but firmware updates fixed everything;
- However, in some cases, a complete transmission fluid change was required;
- There are also several cases described on specialized forums where the wiring harness needed to be replaced under warranty;
- Since this transmission is installed with a V8 bi-turbo engine, the torque converter clutch wears out quickly.
