Disadvantages of the Aisin AW50-42LE gearbox
- This is a fairly robust Japanese automatic transmission, and all its main problems are due to age;
- The transmission is criticized for regular oil leaks and malfunctions due to rotted wiring;
- By 200,000 km, the torque converter lockup clutch wears out;
- Then the wear debris clogs the valve body, causing noticeable jolts;
- Continuing to drive like this will result in a broken oil pump bushing and severe leaks;
- Cracks in the Forward-Direct drum and brake band separation are also common.
