Disadvantages of the Aisin AW70-40LE gearbox
- This is a reliable Japanese automatic transmission, and problems begin with high mileage;
- The only common transmission failure is a broken wiring harness in the solenoid coil;
- If the torque converter clutch is severely worn, leaks can occur at the oil pump seal;
- In automatic transmissions that have seen heavy use, the rear output shaft support bearing is sometimes replaced;
- If you neglect to replace the bearing, the rear planetary gearset can also be damaged.
