Disadvantages of the Chrysler 44RE gearbox
- This is a reliable and durable automatic transmission, but breakdowns occur at high mileage;
- Renew the torque converter clutch every 150,000 km, otherwise the solenoids will become clogged with dirt;
- Due to reduced lubrication pressure, the clutches in the Direct and Forward clutch packs burn out;
- Around 250,000 km, the brake band and reverse drum often need to be replaced;
- There are also complaints on forums about the unreliable centrifugal regulator and wiring.
