Gearbox Getrag 6DCT451

The Getrag 6DCT451 6-speed robotic transmission with two wet clutches has been produced since 2014 and is installed in Renault vehicles under the DW6 designation, as well as in Ford, Volvo vehicles under the MPS6i designation. A version of this transmission for hybrid models is also available as 6HDT451.

Disadvantages of the Getrag 6DCT451 gearbox

  • A well-known weak point of a robotic transmission is the splined connection of the even-speed hub;
  • If you drive too aggressively, the splines wear out, and the transmission goes into emergency mode;
  • Other problems are related to clutch wear and contaminated solenoids;
  • If oil leaks through the oil seal, clutch pack wear accelerates dramatically;
  • The dual-mass flywheel has a short service life; it is sometimes replaced at 150,000 km.
