Disadvantages of the GM 4L80 gearbox
- This is a robust automatic transmission, and breakdowns only occur during long runs;
- Problems begin with slippage during shifts due to worn clutches;
- The main cause is worn bushings and the resulting drop in oil pressure;
- With frequent overheating of the automatic transmission, the service life of the bushings is reduced to 150,000-200,000 km;
- Also, high-mileage automatic transmissions are prone to frequent oil leaks at the seals.
