  • Chevrolet Epica 1 (V250) in 2006 – 2008;
  • Chevrolet Equinox 1 (GMT191) in 2004 – 2009;
  • Opel Antara A (L07) in 2006 – 2010;
  • Opel Signum A (Z03) in 2003 – 2005;
  • Opel Vectra C (Z02) in 2002 – 2005;
  • Pontiac Torrent 1 (GMT191) in 2005 – 2009;
  • Saturn Ion 1 (GMX357) in 2002 – 2004;
  • Saturn Vue 1 (GMT315) in 2001 – 2003.

Disadvantages of the GM AF33 gearbox

  • Automatic transmissions prior to 2004 often failed due to antifreeze getting into the oil;
  • The first automatic transmissions also suffered from a short valve body lifespan, but this was later corrected;
  • And so the transmission lasts until the valve body becomes clogged with wear debris from the torque converter clutch;
  • If you ignore the shocks and vibrations, the oil pump bushing will break;
  • With excessively aggressive driving, the rear planetary gear set can break;
  • On all-wheel drive models, the front bearing also breaks its seat;
  • Weak points of the transmission also include short-lived bushings and brake bands.
