Disadvantages of the Hyundai-Kia 5R35 gearbox
- This automatic transmission has been installed in Kia since 2004, so it wasn’t affected by the problems of the early years;
- The weak point of the automatic transmission is considered to be the overly delicate electronic control board;
- Other breakdowns are quite typical and are related to wear of the torque converter lockup clutch;
- Wear debris clogs the valve body and causes jolts and jerks during gear shifting;
- The brake band is also often replaced, and at high mileage, the planetary gears are also changed.
