Gearbox Jatco JR507E

The Jatco JR507E, JR507A, or RE5R05A 5-speed automatic transmission was produced from 2000 to 2018 and installed in rear- and all-wheel drive vehicles manufactured by Nissan, Infiniti, and Suzuki. In Hyundai and Kia vehicles, this transmission was known as the A5SR1 or A5SR2.

In 2000, Jatco introduced a 5-speed automatic transmission for rear-wheel drive/all-wheel drive vehicles. The new transmission was based on the old RE4R03A 4-speed automatic transmission, which featured Planet Overdrive and a more modern electronically controlled valve body. The transmission was designed for high torque and was paired with powerful engines up to a 5.6-liter V8.

In addition to numerous Nissan-Infiniti models, this transmission was also installed in Suzuki pickups, as well as Hyundai-Kia SUVs and minivans under its own designation, the A5SR1 or A5SR2.

Disadvantages of the Jatco JR507E gearbox

  • In the early years of this automatic transmission’s production, owners often encountered antifreeze leaking into the transmission’s lubrication system. The transmission’s design was later updated.
  • The weak point of this transmission is its electronic control board, which not only frequently malfunctions but can also simply burn out during jump-starting.
  • At 100,000 km, solenoids and valve body channels often wear out. This manifests itself as jolts, jerks, or slippage after the transmission warms up.
  • Also frequently replaced at the service station are the brake band, oil pump seal, bimetallic shaft bushings, and, at high mileage, the rear planetary gear set.
