Disadvantages of the Hyundai-Kia A5SR2 gearbox
- The main problems with the transmission are related to rapid wear of the torque converter lockup clutch;
- The valve body becomes clogged with wear debris, causing jerking during shifting;
- This also leads to a drop in oil pressure, which causes the clutch packs to burn out;
- Another weak point of the automatic transmission is the delicate electronic control board;
- At high mileage, failure of the rear planetary gearset is common.
