Gearbox Mercedes Sprintshift

The Mercedes Sprintshift 6-speed robotic transmission was produced from 2000 to 2016 and installed in the popular Sprinter minibuses and similar Volkswagen Crafter models. This single-clutch robotic transmission with Magneti Marelli hydraulic actuators is identical to the Sequentronic.

Using

The transmission was installed on:

  • Mercedes Sprinter W901 in 2000 – 2006; Sprinter W906 in 2006 – 2012;
  • Volkswagen Crafter 1 (2E) in 2006 – 2016.

Disadvantages of the Mercedes Sprintshift gearbox

  • This robotic transmission has a hydraulic control system, so it’s important to monitor its fluid;
  • If the hydraulic fluid is not changed frequently, the solenoids wear out quickly;
  • A low fluid level often causes the pump to overheat and fail;
  • After 200,000 to 250,000 km, the hydraulic accumulator may require replacement;
  • Service stations also regularly replace the pressure sensor or pump relay.
