Gearbox Mercedes Sequentronic

The Mercedes Sequentronic 6-speed robotic transmission was assembled from 2000 to 2007 and installed in popular models of the German concern, such as the C-Class, E-Class, and CLK-Class. This single-clutch robotic transmission is based on the 716.6 6-speed manual transmission and Magneti Marelli hydraulic actuators.

Using

The transmission was installed on:

  • Mercedes CLK-Class C208 in 2000 – 2003; CLK-Class C209 in 2002 – 2005;
  • Mercedes C-Class W203 in 2000 – 2007;
  • Mercedes E-Class W211 in 2002 – 2006;
  • Mercedes SL-Class R230 in 2003 – 2006.

Disadvantages of the Mercedes Sequentronic gearbox

  • This is a robotic transmission with a hydraulic control system, so keep an eye on its fluid;
  • The pump does not tolerate low hydraulic fluid levels and fails due to overheating;
  • If the fluid is not changed frequently, the solenoids in the robotic transmission wear out and fail;
  • At 200,000 to 250,000 km, the hydraulic accumulator often requires replacement;
  • Owners also frequently replace the pump relay and pressure sensor.
