The AMG SpeedShift MCT 7 7-speed automatic transmission was assembled at the company’s factory from 2008 to 2019 and installed in popular performance models such as the C63, E63, CL63, and SL63. It’s essentially a 722.9 transmission with a wet multi-plate clutch pack instead of a torque converter.

Disadvantages of the Mercedes AMG SpeedShift MCT 7 gearbox
- In the early years, owners constantly complained about jerking and harsh shifting;
- This transmission was also criticized for frequently switching to manual mode unintentionally;
- However, after the 2011 update, the only problem remaining was jerking in cold weather;
- And if you avoid overheating and change the oil regularly, this automatic transmission will last a long time;
- The ZF clutch pack has a decent lifespan, but the replacement cost is not encouraging.
