The AMG SpeedShift TCT 7 7-speed automatic transmission was produced in Germany from 2004 to 2015 and was installed in high-performance versions of the second- and third-generation SLK 55 roadster. This transmission is a variant of the 722.9 automatic transmission and is also known as the 7G-Tronic Sport.

Using
The transmission was installed on:
- Mercedes SLK-Class R171 in 2004 – 2010;
- Mercedes SLK-Class R172 in 2012 – 2015.
Disadvantages of the Mercedes AMG SpeedShift TCT 7 gearbox
- First of all, this is a very rare automatic transmission, and its failure rate is extremely low;
- It’s important to monitor the cooling system, as this automatic transmission does not tolerate overheating;
- High temperatures significantly reduce the lifespan of the control board, which is expensive;
- It’s also important to change the oil regularly, otherwise the valve body will become clogged with wear debris;
- However, the main problem for owners is the lack of service and spare parts.
