Disadvantages of the Hyundai-Kia A4AF1 gearbox
- This is Hyundai’s first automatic transmission, and it suffered from numerous defects;
- Quality issues aside, the main problem with the transmission is the rapid wear of the bushings;
- The transmission also suffers from leaks, especially between the housing and the torque converter;
- All this leads to a significant drop in oil pressure and wear of the clutch packs;
- Dirt from the clutches clogs the valve body, and the transmission simply stops shifting.
