Using
The transmission was installed on:
- Toyota 4Runner 6 (N500) since 2024;
- Toyota LC Prado 250 (J250) since 2023;
- Toyota Tacoma 4 (N400) since 2023.
Disadvantages of the Toyota AL80F gearbox
- This automatic transmission appeared relatively recently and failure statistics for it are minimal;
- Jerking and snatching on early production gearboxes was solved with firmware updates;
- There was also a recall campaign in the USA to replace oil contaminated with metal shavings;
- But the main problem is early engagement of the torque converter lockup;
- Because of this the oil gets dirty quickly and we recommend changing it as often as possible.
