The Toyota A340H 4-speed automatic transmission was produced in Japan from 1993 to 2007 and was installed on all-wheel drive versions of passenger models such as the Altezza, Chaser, Cresta and Progres. There are two different versions of this gearbox: the standard AW31-80LE and the reinforced AW31-80LS.

Disadvantages of the Toyota A340H gearbox
- This is a reliable automatic transmission, but it is fitted to sporty models with powerful engines;
- That is why the torque converter lockup clutch wears out quickly with overly active owners;
- This debris then clogs the valve body and jerking appears when shifting;
- If you keep driving without paying attention, the oil pump bushing will be destroyed;
- Heavy leaks then begin, and the planetary gearset is very sensitive to a low oil level.
