The Toyota A541E 4-speed automatic transmission was built at the Japanese plant from 1993 to 2003 and was installed on many popular models of the company, such as the Camry, Windom and Lexus ES300. The gearbox was paired with V6 engines such as the 2.5-liter 2MZ-FE and the 3.0-liter 1MZ-FE.

Disadvantages of the Toyota A541E gearbox
- This is an old and reliable automatic transmission, and failures occur only at high mileage;
- But with overly active owners the torque converter lockup clutch wears out quickly;
- This debris then clogs the valve body solenoids and the gearbox starts jerking;
- In the most neglected cases the oil pump bushing is destroyed and leaks appear;
- It is also highly advisable to clean the cooling system, as this gearbox does not tolerate overheating.
