Disadvantages of the Toyota TG-80SC gearbox
- This is a rare automatic transmission; it was only installed on the third-generation RX350 F-Sport model;
- In the early years, owners complained about jerking and stumbling, but firmware updates fixed everything;
- This transmission is also very sensitive to oil level, so watch for leaks;
- The tiny heat exchanger quickly clogs and is best replaced every 100,000 km;
- Other problems are related to contamination of the valve body by wear debris from the clutches.
