The VW DQ501 7-speed robotic transmission, or DSG-7 0AK, has been produced at the Tianjin plant since 2019 and is installed in many popular Chinese models, such as the Talagon, Tavendor, and Viloran. This transmission, with its dual wet clutches, is a reinforced version of the well-known DQ381 robotic transmission.

Disadvantages of the VW DQ501 gearbox
- In the early years, there were issues with jerking and surging, but a firmware update resolved the issue;
- The clutch assembly has a decent lifespan and replacements are common after 150,000 km;
- It’s worth noting that the dual-mass flywheel is sometimes replaced at similar mileage;
- And don’t forget to renew the hydraulic fluid in the transmission every 60,000 km.
