Disadvantages of the Aisin AW91-40LS gearbox
- In the early years, there were problems with the transmission control unit, but they were quickly fixed;
- And so, this automatic transmission lasts for up to 400,000-500,000 km with a respectable owner;
- The torque converter lockup clutch is too small and wears out quickly under vigorous driving;
- And if it’s not replaced promptly, it will damage the oil pump bushing and cause leaks;
- And under vigorous driving, the Teflon ring damages the groove in the rear cover;
- Then the oil pressure in the system drops, and the clutch packs begin to burn out.
