Disadvantages of the Aisin AW90-40LS gearbox
- This automatic transmission operates without any particular problems with four-cylinder engines;
- However, with V6 engines, transmission life is highly dependent on operating conditions;
- With vigorous driving, the Teflon ring quickly clogs the groove in the rear cover;
- Then, the lubrication pressure in the system drops, and the clutch packs begin to burn;
- Frequent abrupt starts also quickly destroy the rear planetary gear set of the transmission.
