This automatic transmission was installed in Asian-spec Toyota Vitz, Yaris, and Vios models under the designation U442E.

Disadvantages of the Aisin TS-40SN gearbox
- The gear selector on the automatic transmission used to constantly break in the early years, but that was later fixed;
- And now the most common problem is the main thrust bearing slipping;
- It slips due to a loose locking pin, and then the vibrations destroy the planetary gear;
- Also, at high mileage, the oil pump seal often leaks, which is dangerous for the transmission;
- A well-known problem with the rear cover is inherited from the U-series automatic transmissions.
