Disadvantages of the Toyota U140E gearbox
- This gearbox is paired with powerful engines and comes in for repair relatively often;
- With an active owner the valve body quickly gets clogged with clutch wear debris;
- The Teflon rings also wear a groove in the rear cover of the automatic transmission over time;
- The oil pressure then drops, which greatly shortens the life of the planetary gearsets;
- In the first year of production there were many complaints about the temperamental Fujitsu control unit.
