Disadvantages of the Aisin TF-61SN gearbox
- This is a reliable gearbox, but its service life depends heavily on the cleanliness of the heat exchanger.
- With frequent overheating, serious gearbox repairs may be needed as early as 150,000 km.
- Also, with active driving, the torque converter locking clutch wears out.
- Vibrations quickly break the oil pump bushing, and then all the other bushings.
- As in all modern automatic transmissions, it is important to change the lubricant frequently or the hydraulic unit will become clogged.
