Disadvantages of the Aisin AW50-40LN gearbox

  • This is a reliable transmission, but in the early years, there were cases of antifreeze getting into the oil;
  • And its main problems are related to contamination of the valve body with wear products;
  • The presence of an automatic neutral position affects the life of the torque converter clutch, and owners often disable it;
  • If the torque converter clutch is severely worn, vibrations can damage the oil pump bushing;
  • Rarely, cracks in the Forward-Direct drum and brake band separation occur.
