Disadvantages of the Aisin AW50-40LM gearbox
- This is a very reliable automatic transmission, and problems only occur at high mileage;
- Closer to 200,000 km, the torque converter lockup clutch usually wears out significantly;
- And its wear products clog the valve body, which is very sensitive to lubrication;
- If you drive for long periods with the transmission jerking, the oil pump bushing will break, causing leaks;
- Rarely, cracks in the Forward-Direct drum and brake band separation occur.
