Disadvantages of the Aisin AW50-40LE gearbox
- This is a fairly reliable automatic transmission, but its service life is highly dependent on the engine;
- With weak engines up to 2.0 liters, the transmission easily lasts up to 250,000-300,000 km;
- However, with powerful engines, the torque converter lockup clutch wears out quickly;
- Then wear debris clogs the valve body, causing noticeable jolts;
- And if left unattended, the oil pump bushing will break, leading to leaks;
- Cracks in the Forward-Direct drum and brake band separation are also common.
