Gearbox Opel AF14

The Opel AF14 4-speed automatic transmission was produced in Japan from 1988 to 1992 and was installed exclusively in the first-generation Vectra model, paired with the 1.6-liter engine. This automatic transmission is known by its own designation, the AW50-41LE, in Aisin’s classification.

  • Opel Vectra A (J89) in 1988 – 1992

Disadvantages of the Opel AF14 gearbox

  • The transmission has a long service life, and even the torque converter clutch wears out around 250,000-300,000 km;
  • Then the valve body will need to be flushed, or the solenoids will become clogged with wear debris;
  • Then the oil pump bushing usually breaks, and leaks appear at the junction with the engine;
  • Brake band separation and malfunctions in the automatic transmission selector are also common.
