The Ford E4OD 4-speed automatic transmission has been assembled in the USA since 1989 and is essentially a further development of the popular C6 super-heavy-duty three-speed transmission. It is installed in pickup trucks, minivans, and SUVs with engines larger than 5.0 liters.

Disadvantages of the Ford E4OD gearbox
- This powerful transmission can withstand all the abuse it faces;
- With regular oil changes, its service life exceeds 300,000 kilometers;
- When operating in extreme cold, warming up this transmission is highly recommended;
- At a major maintenance check, the brake band, pump seal, and input shaft seal are usually replaced.
