The Ford AODE 4-speed automatic transmission was produced in America from 1991 to 1995 and was installed in many popular rear-wheel drive models like the Mustang and Crown Victoria. After a minor update, the transmission received a new index and became known as the 4R70W.

Disadvantages of the Ford AODE gearbox
- This simple and easy-to-repair transmission is very sensitive to overheating;
- With heavy use, seals and rings quickly become unusable;
- A drop in oil pressure leads to intensive wear of the transmission clutches;
- Friction dust clogs the valve body solenoids, causing the automatic transmission to struggle.
