The Ford 4R70W 4-speed automatic transmission was produced in the United States from 1992 to 2005 and was installed in many high-performance SUVs and large rear-wheel-drive sedans. This transmission is the successor to the well-known AOD transmission and has been replaced by the 4R75W.

Disadvantages of the Ford 4R70 gearbox
- The main problem with automatic transmissions is the rapid wear of seals, rings, and other gaskets;
- Then oil pressure drops, which contributes to accelerated wear of the clutches;
- The transmission is also susceptible to overheating and, conversely, driving in extreme cold without warming up.
