The Ford 8F57 8-speed automatic transmission has been produced at the company’s plant since 2018 and is installed on models equipped with the 2.7 EcoBoost turbo engine and the 2.0 EcoBlue bi-turbo diesel engine. This automatic transmission is based on the 6F50 6-speed transmission, developed jointly with General Motors.

Disadvantages of the Ford 8F57 gearbox
- The main problem here is hard shifting when driving at low speeds;
- Owners also complain of abrupt shifting when taking the transmission out of park;
- In most cases, a reflash helps, but sometimes replacing the valve body is the only solution;
- Oil leaks along the axle shafts and through the electrical connector are relatively common;
- The automatic transmission fluid temperature sensor also regularly fails.
