Gearbox Ford 6F50

The Ford 6F50 6-speed automatic transmission has been produced at the American plant since 2006 and is installed in many popular front- and all-wheel-drive models with engines up to 3.7 liters. This automatic transmission is known in General Motors vehicles under its own designation, the 6T75.

Disadvantages of the Ford 6F50 gearbox

  • This transmission is installed with powerful units, and the torque converter clutch wears out quickly;
  • Then wear debris clogs the solenoids, and oil pressure in the system drops;
  • A drop in oil pressure here leads to rapid wear of the bushings and oil pump;
  • To extend the life of this transmission, change the oil as often as possible;
  • A problem with the spring disc of the 3-5-R drum sometimes occurs in transmissions made before 2012.
