The 4-speed automatic transmission Aisin AW 03-72LE was first introduced in 1986 and was initially intended for rear- or all-wheel drive Toyota under the indexes A44DE and A45DE. Since about the first half of the nineties, it began to be installed on SUVs from Suzuki.

Disadvantages of the AW03-72LE gearbox
- This automatic transmission is reliable, easy to maintain and breaks down very rarely.
- All automatic transmission problems are somehow related to the natural wear of the clutches.
