The Aisin AW03-71LE 4-speed automatic transmission was first introduced in 1983 as a more powerful version of the 03-70LE transmission and was known as the A43DE, A46DE, and A46DF in Toyota models. In some countries, it gained popularity thanks to the Volvo 960 sedan and the Kia Retona SUV.
