Gearbox Aisin TB-65SN

The Aisin TB-65SN 6-speed automatic transmission has been produced at the group’s Japanese plant since 2004 and is installed on popular rear-wheel drive Subaru BRZ, Toyota GT86 or Scion FR-S coupes. On numerous Toyota and Lexus models, this gearbox is known under its index A960E.

Disadvantages of the TB-65SN gearbox

  • This is a reliable automatic transmission without any design flaws;
  • However, typical problems with oil contamination by wear products also apply to it;
  • If you do not regularly update the oil in the automatic transmission, then the solenoids do not last particularly long;
  • In the most advanced cases, dirty lubricant corrodes the channels in the valve body plate;
  • Servicemen also regularly replace the solenoid wiring and oil pump bushing.
