Disadvantages of the Aisin TB-50LS gearbox

  • This is a fairly reliable transmission, and problems only arise at high mileage;
  • First, the torque converter lockup clutch wears out, contaminating the oil;
  • Then, dirty oil damages the solenoids and corrodes the valve body passages;
  • Worn torque converter clutch causes vibrations, which break the oil pump bushing;
  • Then, oil leaks appear, and a significant drop in oil level is dangerous for the automatic transmission.
